Ex-Jigawa Rep Abba Ana Adamu Dies in Kidnappers' Den

Abba Ana Adamu, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Guri, Kiri, and Kasamma Birniwa Federal Constituency of Jigawa State from 2007 to 2011, was kidnapped by armed bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Wednesday while traveling to a political meeting in Kano. His colleague, Ali Tukur Gantsa, was also abducted but was released after negotiations led to a ransom payment of N50 million, initially demanded at N200 million.

Adamu reportedly suffered from asthma and hypertension, which worsened due to the harsh conditions and lack of medical care during his captivity. Despite efforts from fellow captives to provide comfort, his health deteriorated.

The kidnappers initially concealed Adamu's death, which was later revealed during negotiations. His body was reportedly located by his son.

The Jigawa State Political Association mourned Adamu, describing him as a humble and compassionate politician committed to public service. Lawan Shiisu Adam, a spokesman for the Jigawa State Police Command, confirmed the incident did not occur within the state.
