Kwankwaso Accused of Diverting Billions from Kano Treasury

Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, the former chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, has accused former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of diverting billions of naira from the state treasury. During a public address, Gado claimed that large sums of money were withdrawn from government coffers for expenditures made on behalf of Kwankwaso.

He specifically mentioned an alleged withdrawal of N1 billion in December 2023 for the construction of a personal residence, although he did not provide details on the property's location. Additionally, Gado alleged that N525 million was released for office construction, N1.2 billion was spent on purchasing official vehicles, and N400 million was related to other expenses.

He also noted that N100.8 million was withdrawn in June 2024 for medical expenses linked to Kwankwaso, and N510.213 million was allocated for holiday-related spending. Kwankwaso has denied these allegations and is considering legal action against Gado for defamation.
