Gwarzo Files Defamation Petition Against Gov Yusuf’s Aide

Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, has initiated a defamation petition against Sunusi Batur, who serves as an aide to the current Governor Yusuf. The petition was filed with the Kano State Police on June 17, 2026, by Gwarzo's lawyer, Barrister Nazifi Yusuf Goronduts.

The allegations stem from remarks made by Batur during a political gathering held on June 13, 2026. Gwarzo claims that Batur linked him to a receipt involving the chairmen of the 44 local government areas in Kano State.

Additionally, a video of Batur's speech has circulated on social media, which Gwarzo asserts has caused damage to his reputation. Gwarzo's counsel has urged the police to investigate the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
