Ex-LG Chair Abdullahi Gali Basaf Returns to Tailoring

Abdullahi Gali Shitu, popularly known as Comrade Abdullahi Gali Basaf, was the chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area (LGA) in Kano State until March 2026. Following his political tenure, he has returned to his tailoring business, which he believes offers more stability than a political career.

Basaf aims to send a message that politics should not be the sole focus for individuals, advocating for the importance of having a trade that sustains one’s livelihood. His tailoring journey spans over a decade, and he currently employs about twenty people in his shop.

Basaf's vision includes modernizing the tailoring industry and establishing a garment company to create more jobs. He encourages young people to value trades and sees tailoring as a dignified profession that can provide financial support for political activities.

Despite holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Political Science, he prioritizes his passion for tailoring, which has been a significant part of his life and political journey, including his involvement with the Kwankwasiyya movement and various political roles.
