Ex-LP Campaign DG Osuntokun Resigns, Joins ADC Amid Party Crisis

Osuntokun, the former Director-General of the Labour Party's presidential campaign council, has officially resigned from the Labour Party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) citing deep-seated internal crises and deliberate sabotage within the Labour Party. He accused the current leadership of working against the party's ideals and the country's democratic interests.

Osuntokun's decision was influenced by the party's leadership interests conflicting with genuine nation-building efforts. His departure was also fueled by a leadership crisis within the party, exacerbated by recent court rulings nullifying the party's national chairman.

Osuntokun's move to the ADC aligns with a broader opposition coalition led by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, with prominent figures like Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, and Rauf Aregbesola adopting the ADC's political platform for the upcoming elections. This shift signifies a strategic effort to build a strong opposition coalition capable of challenging the ruling party in the 2023 and 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
