Maku and Hopefuls Pass Labour Party Screening Ahead of Primaries

Labaran Maku, a former minister, along with presidential hopefuls Peter Agada and Samuel Nwigwe, successfully cleared the Labour Party screening on Friday, ahead of the party's presidential primaries scheduled for May 30. The screening took place at the party headquarters in Abuja and attracted several aspirants contesting various political offices.

Samuel Nwigwe, a London-based entrepreneur and oil mogul, emphasized the need for Nigeria to adopt successful governance models from cities like London, Singapore, Toronto, and Amsterdam to build a secure and productive economy. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party's ideology of social justice and equal opportunity.

Peter Agada pledged to lead an intensive campaign for the Labour Party's 2027 presidential ticket, citing a nationwide network built over 20 years of political mobilization. Maku expressed a commitment to push for national reform and a new constitution, arguing for the restructuring of Nigeria's current governance system to address insecurity and disunity.
