Dr. David Umbugadu Exits APC, Rejoins PDP in Nasarawa

Dr. David Umbugadu, a former governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) after only three weeks of membership.

In a resignation letter dated March 24, 2026, addressed to the APC chairman of Ika Wangibi Ward in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Umbugadu explained that he could no longer remain in the party due to internal developments that could impact his chances in the next governorship race. His departure from APC follows his formal joining of the party on March 2, 2026, during an event at the government house in Lafia, attended by prominent political figures including Governor Abdullahi Sule, former Governor Abdullahi Adamu, and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Umbugadu has described the PDP as his political home, having previously joined the party in 2014 before leaving for the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and later returning to PDP, under which he contested the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections in Nasarawa State.
