Peterside Advocates Business Re-engineering for Nigeria

Dakuku Peterside, the former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), called on the federal government to implement a business re-engineering policy aimed at unlocking the nation's economic potential. Speaking at the maiden international conference of the Department of Business Administration at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Peterside emphasized that re-engineering government processes could eliminate bottlenecks that hinder commercial activities, create jobs, and boost economic growth.

He noted that despite Nigeria's abundant crude oil and mineral resources, the country remains underdeveloped due to inefficiencies in business administration. Peterside urged the government to learn from Singapore's approach to business process re-engineering, which has modernized its public sector and improved trade.

He highlighted the importance of seamless access for investors and entrepreneurs to drive productivity. The conference was opened by Prof.

Okechukwu Onuchukwu, Vice Chancellor of IAUE, and included contributions from Dr. Jame Vinazor, head of the Department of Business Administration.
