Sir Craig Reedie, Olympic Leader, Dies at 84

Sir Craig Reedie, a notable figure in the Olympic movement, passed away at the age of 84. He served as the chair of the British Olympic Association (BOA) from 1992 to 2005 and later as the president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) from 2014 to 2019. During his tenure at the BOA, he played a key role in London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Reedie was also a director of the organizing committee for the event and served on the International Olympic Committee's executive board from 2009 to 2012, and as vice president from 2012 to 2016. He was recognized for his commitment to clean sport, notably during a turbulent period for WADA that included the exposure of state-sponsored doping in Russia. Reedie was honored with several accolades, including being appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1999, knighted in 2006, and elevated to Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) in 2018. His legacy will continue to influence the global sports landscape.
