Fintiri Mourns Bamanga Tukur's Passing in Adamawa

On September 13, 2026, Adamawa State Governor Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed profound sadness over the death of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who was the former governor of the defunct Gongola State and former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Tukur died on a Saturday after a brief illness, just three days before his 91st birthday.

Fintiri described Tukur's passing as a monumental loss to both Adamawa State and Nigeria, commending his courage, foresight, and lifelong commitment to public service. In honor of Tukur, Fintiri declared three days of mourning across Adamawa State, directing that all government flags be flown at half-mast.

Tukur's burial is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Yola, following funeral prayers at the Lamido’s Palace. He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Awwal Tukur, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government.

Other political figures, including Amb Engr Omar Suleiman, also expressed condolences, recognizing Tukur's significant contributions to public life.
