• Naijanews • Politics
Obono Obla, a former chairman of the Special Presidential Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, issued a warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the potential negative impact of high nomination fees and unfair primary processes. He emphasized that imposing nomination fees ranging from 10 million to 50 million naira could hinder fair competition and discourage credible aspirants. Obla stressed that the credibility of the party's internal processes is crucial for maintaining trust among its members and producing representatives who genuinely reflect the electorate's interests. He recalled experiences from the 2023 electoral cycle, alleging manipulation in the selection of delegates and the distribution of large sums of money to influence primary elections in Ikom. Obla urged the APC to ensure fairness, equity, and transparency in its preparations for the 2027 general elections, allowing party members to freely choose candidates that represent their interests.
