Former SDP Chairman Shehu Gabam Arraigned for Fraud

Shehu Gabam, the former national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was arraigned on Tuesday at the Federal Capital Territory Chief Magistrate Court for allegations of misappropriation, breach of trust, and forgery related to party funds. Gabam, alongside the party's former national youth leader Chukwuma Uchechukwu, faced charges under suit number DCC/10/2026.

Gabam pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the court subsequently admitted him to bail in the sum of N3 million, requiring two sureties with land properties in Abuja. Chief Magistrate Amaech Onyedium ordered Gabam to deposit his international passport with the court registrar pending the determination of the case, which has been adjourned until May 25 for further hearing.

Current SDP national chairman Sadiq Gomb described the court action as part of efforts to restore accountability and discipline within the party, emphasizing the need for a clean and transparent process to address alleged financial misconduct.
