Experts Demand Audit After Gombe Assembly Building Collapse

Following the collapse of a section of the Gombe Assembly building, which resulted in the death of one worker and injuries to seven others, experts are demanding a comprehensive technical audit of the construction site. Engr Suleiman Abba, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, stressed the importance of an independent assessment to determine the actual cause of the collapse, focusing on design, materials, workmanship, and construction methodologies.

Engr Musa Achindo highlighted the necessity for strict compliance with engineering standards and called for a thorough review of the project's design and construction processes. Arc Mustapha Adamu advocated for a multidisciplinary investigation involving various professionals to ensure structural integrity.

The Gombe State government, through Danladi Adamu, confirmed the incident and stated that eight workers were involved, with five receiving treatment at Gombe State Specialist Hospital and two at Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe. Governor Muhammadu Yahaya expressed condolences and directed relevant ministries to commence safety procedures and submit reports within 24 hours.
