Gombe State Investigates Assembly Complex Collapse

The Gombe State Government has ordered a probe into the collapse of the Assembly complex that occurred on Friday, resulting in the death of one construction worker and injuries to seven others. The incident involved a section of the cantilever entrance canopy.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and directed that all injured workers receive comprehensive medical treatment at the state's specialist hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital. The governor instructed the Ministry of Works and Transport, along with relevant regulatory and technical agencies, to commence safety assessments and procedures to determine the cause of the incident.

The contractor handling the project has been directed to submit a formal incident report within 24 hours, with a preliminary investigation report expected to follow. The governor reaffirmed the commitment to ensure strict compliance with safety and quality engineering standards in public infrastructure projects across the state.
