Stakeholders Demand Action Against Land Grabbing in Nigeria

During a housing engagement in Abuja, stakeholders in Nigeria's housing sector called for tougher government measures to combat land grabbing, which they identified as a significant threat to property rights, investor confidence, and affordable housing development. Mr. Chukwuka Ugwu, Permanent Secretary of the Enugu State Liaison Office, emphasized that proper documentation of land ownership is crucial for addressing land grabbing issues.

Hassan Usman, Managing Director of New Frontier Development, also identified land grabbing as a major challenge. The stakeholders collectively stressed the need for policies that reduce the cost of construction materials to facilitate affordable housing.
