Ezechukwu Wins 100m Heat at Commonwealth Games

Ezechukwu, a Nigerian sprinter, achieved victory in the women’s 100m heats at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, clocking a time of 11.32 seconds from lane eight, which secured her an automatic place in the semi-finals alongside compatriots Blessing Ogundiran and Rosemary Chukwuma. This marked Ezechukwu's first appearance at the Commonwealth Games, and she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent Nigeria.

She noted that her confidence was bolstered by her experience competing against elite athletes earlier in the season, including at the World Relays and African Senior Championships. Ezechukwu stated that her focus and determination helped her overcome the challenging cold conditions in Glasgow.

Looking ahead, she identified the World U-20 Championships as a major target for the season, expressing her belief in her potential to achieve success there as well. Ezechukwu aims to maintain her momentum from the Commonwealth Games as she prepares for the upcoming championships.
