Ezekwesili Accuses Nigerian Leaders of Profiting from Terrorism

Obiageli Ezekwesili, the former Minister of Education, accused individuals in positions of authority in Nigeria of profiting from the country's ongoing battle against terrorism and insecurity. During an interview with News Central Television, she raised concerns about the substantial resources allocated to security operations and the lack of tangible results.

Ezekwesili emphasized that the persistent insecurity raises critical questions about the utilization of public funds designated for combating terrorism. She demanded transparency from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the military regarding the effectiveness of the trillions of naira reportedly spent on security.

Ezekwesili criticized the government's failure to prioritize citizen protection and warned that inadequate responses to attacks could embolden criminal groups. She expressed support for the creation of state police but stressed that effective governance is essential for any security structure to succeed.

Furthermore, she called for a clearer separation of responsibilities among security institutions to enhance their operational effectiveness.
