Ezekwesili Calls for National Rebirth Beyond Elections

Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education and Chairperson of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance, cautioned against focusing solely on the 2027 presidential election, stating that Nigeria's fundamental issue lies in the failure of its political and governance systems. During an interview on AriseTV PrimeTime, she called for a national dialogue to establish shared values and a common vision, which she believes are essential for meaningful development.

Ezekwesili criticized the political class for not facilitating necessary conversations since Nigeria's independence, leading to a lack of social cohesion and deepening divisions. She argued that the current state of the country is not its destiny but a result of deliberate political choices.

Furthermore, she expressed her support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, based on his leadership qualities rather than political affiliation.
