FAAN Begins Enforcement Of Port Charge At MMIA Cargo Terminal

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has started enforcing the payment of statutory port charges at the Pilgrims Cargo Terminal (PCT) in the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos. This move comes after 18 years of challenges in ensuring that the mandatory fee is paid, resulting in significant revenue loss.

FAAN, along with key stakeholders such as the Nigeria Customs Service, SAHCO, and NAHCO, is implementing a robust access control system and electronic platform to enhance compliance without disrupting cargo flow. The initiative aims to improve accountability and operational efficiency.

FAAN's Managing Executive, Olubunmi Kuku, is leading the effort to drive innovation, operational reform, and revenue optimization in the African aviation sector. The enforcement is part of FAAN's broader strategy to strengthen Nigeria's competitiveness in the global air cargo market.
