Fagbemi denies interference in EFCC, ICPC investigations

Justice Minister Lateef Fagbemi denied allegations of interference in the investigations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Speaking at a Federal Ministry of Justice retreat, Fagbemi emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring the independence of these agencies in the fight against corruption.

He stated that the government would not interfere in any investigations initiated by these agencies, as they are best suited to carry out thorough and organized probes. Fagbemi highlighted that the constitution guarantees the independence of these agencies, and the government will respect their autonomy in conducting investigations into alleged crimes.
