FG Not Interfering In EFCC, ICPC Operations – AGF Fagbemi

During a management retreat in Akwa Ibom State, Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Fagbemi assured that the Federal Government is not interfering in the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC). Fagbemi emphasized the commitment of President Bola Tinubu's administration to strengthen the autonomy of these agencies to enhance their effectiveness.

The AGF clarified that the Ministry of Justice would only intervene once an agency concludes its investigation and legal process. Fagbemi highlighted that the Nigerian Constitution already guarantees the independence of the EFCC and ICPC, making any interference by the Federal Government unconstitutional.

The government remains resolute in the fight against corruption, as it is crucial for national development and improving infrastructure.
