FG Prosecutes Adeniyi Adeyemi for Forgery and Conspiracy

The Federal Government of Nigeria is prosecuting Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General of the fictitious Foreign Investment Promotion Council, on eight counts including conspiracy and forgery at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The charges, filed by the police, allege that Adeyemi operated a non-existent government agency and forged documents, including a presidential appointment letter purportedly signed by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

The case, which has been marked as FHC/ABJ/CR/2025, also involves two accomplices identified as Femi Anu. The allegations include impersonating government officials and creating legitimacy for the fictitious organization.

The prosecution follows a formal petition by Gbajabiamila to the Department of State Services (DSS) and police on October 17, 2025, after concerns were raised regarding Adeyemi's activities, including hosting ambassadors without proper notification. The case has drawn significant public scrutiny and calls for an independent investigation into the legitimacy of Adeyemi's appointment and the operations of the alleged agency.
