ICPC Exonerates Gbajabiamila in PFIPC Fraud Case

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has cleared Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, of any involvement in the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) case. The ICPC found that Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to be the Director General of the PFIPC, was never appointed by the federal government and presented a forged appointment letter.

The commission confirmed that the PFIPC was a fictitious organization, never established by any legal means. ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, disclosed these findings after submitting an interim report to President Tinubu, who had directed the investigation on July 7 following allegations by Adeyemi that he paid N400 million to Gbajabiamila for his appointment.

The investigation revealed that Adeyemi also created two additional fake government agencies and unlawfully occupied the offices of the defunct Presidential Economic Advisory Council, exploiting weaknesses in government verification processes.
