Police Arrest Father of Adeyemi Amid Ghost Agency Scandal

The Nigerian Police Force arrested Princ Adeniyi Adeyemi's father on Monday amid an ongoing investigation into a ₦1.3 billion ghost agency scandal linked to the presidency. The scandal involves allegations against the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and others, with Adeyemi's father being taken from their residence in Ogbomoso.

Senior lawyer Femi Falana expressed shock at the arrest, stating there was no legal basis for detaining a family member to compel a suspect's surrender. Mazi Afam Osigwe, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, condemned the arrest, asserting that Nigerian law does not permit such actions.

Eyewitnesses reported that police arrived with four vehicles and did not allow neighbors to intervene during the arrest. The incident has raised fresh legal and human rights concerns, with calls for clarification on the motives behind the arrest, as it appears to exert pressure on the suspect, Princ Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is currently facing charges in a federal high court in Abuja.
