Falana Calls for Nigeria to Pressure US on Iran Crisis

Human rights activist Femi Falana called on the Nigerian government to exert diplomatic pressure on the United States concerning the ongoing conflict involving Iran and Israel during a political program aired on Channel Television on Thursday. Falana condemned the actions taken in disregard of international law and United Nations resolutions.

He urged Nigeria to collaborate with countries like Russia and China to ensure adherence to international law and to encourage these global powers to intervene diplomatically in the escalating crisis. Falana highlighted the importance of Nigeria reviving its traditional multilateral diplomacy, akin to its role during the era of the Non-Aligned Movement.

He stressed that Nigeria should strengthen its international security architecture to reduce reliance on foreign powers. Additionally, Falana criticized the management of Nigeria's state-owned refineries, questioning why they are no longer operational despite billions of dollars spent on rehabilitation.
