Maiduguri Bomb Blasts Kill 23, Families Search for Missing

Following bomb blasts in Maiduguri on Monday, which resulted in 23 deaths and 108 injuries, families have begun searching for their missing relatives. The attacks, suspected to be carried out by suicide bombers, targeted three locations, including a post office and a market.

Borno State Police Command, represented by spokesperson ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the attacks and stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incidents. The police have cordoned off the scene and initiated thorough sweeps with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, currently in Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, condemned the attacks as despicable and cowardly, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. He assured the public that military and security agencies are taking adequate measures to prevent further breaches of security in Maiduguri and the entire state, amidst a recent surge in attacks linked to intensified military operations in the Sambisa Forest.
