Farmer Killed, Another Injured in Herder Attack in Yobe State

In Yobe State, Nigeria, a farmer named Abdulrahaman Audu, aged 30, was killed, and another farmer, Ya'u Umaru, was injured in an attack by unidentified herders in Azbak Village on February 11, 2026. The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when the herders trespassed onto the farmland with their sheep.

When Audu cautioned them, they allegedly attacked him with a cutlass, causing severe injuries. Audu was rushed to a specialist hospital in Gashua for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, while Umaru remains under medical care.

The Yobe State Police have confirmed an ongoing investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. This incident highlights the escalating tensions between farmers and herders in the region, often resulting in fatal clashes over farmland and livestock management.
