Favour Ashe achieved a remarkable time of 9.93 seconds in the men's 100 meters at the Commonwealth Games trials held in Lagos, marking a personal best and establishing him as a top contender in Nigerian sprinting. The Delta State sprinter's explosive performance underscored his credentials as a leading prospect for Nigeria ahead of major international competitions.

Fakored Nichola Adekalu from Mississippi State University finished second with a personal best of 9.98 seconds, while Chidera Ezeakor placed third with a time of 10.03 seconds. Tejiri Godwin, representing Bayelsa State, showcased significant potential by finishing fourth with a personal best of 10.20 seconds.

Former national champion Enoch Adegoke crossed the line in fifth place at 10.27 seconds, and Gafaru Audu finished sixth with a season's best of 10.42 seconds. The trials also featured the men's 400 meters final, where Tyler Johnson, who recently switched allegiance to Nigeria from the USA, won with a time of 45.76 seconds.
