FCID Lagos Uncovers N16.17m Pregnancy Scam, Arrests Vandals

The Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Lagos, under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General of Police Simeon U. Akpandom, reported major breakthroughs in crime fighting during a press briefing.

From March 30 to June 25, 2026, the department received 1,762 petitions and concluded investigations on 56 cases. Key operations included the arrest of three suspects involved in vandalizing telecommunications infrastructure in Lagos State, identified as Ezekiel Omoloy (46), Olaoluwa Shuwunmi (44), and Olaley Kehind (41).

The operation, conducted in Ayobo, Alimosho Local Government Area, resulted in the recovery of various items, including a locally made pistol and electronic devices. Additionally, a pregnancy scam was uncovered involving Miss Onyekachi Winner Mmerichukwu, who allegedly defrauded Mr.

Olajid of N16.17 million under false pretenses of pregnancy-related medical expenses. Investigations revealed that the claims were fabricated, leading to her arrest and ongoing efforts to apprehend other involved parties.
