FCT Fire Service Seeks Modernization and Funding Boost

The FCT Fire Service, under the direction of Adebayo Z. Amiola, has made a formal appeal to the federal government for increased funding and modernization efforts.

Amiola emphasized the importance of the agency in protecting Nigeria's capital, which hosts numerous diplomatic missions and serves millions of residents and visitors. He outlined four critical areas requiring urgent government intervention, including the immediate replacement of firefighting appliances that have surpassed their optimal operational lifespan.

The appeal also called for a substantial financial boost to enhance emergency preparedness, expand fire prevention programs, and ensure the maintenance of existing equipment. Additionally, Amiola stressed the need for specialized training for firefighters and the recruitment of personnel to meet the growing demands of the territory.

He highlighted the necessity of acquiring modern firefighting technology, such as aerial ladder platforms and advanced emergency assessment drones, drawing a comparison to the high-tech infrastructure deployed by the Lagos State Fire Rescue Service. Amiola concluded by stating that investing in fire services is crucial for public safety and economic stability.
