FFS Trains 700 Cadet Firefighters, Refurbishes 40 Trucks

On Friday in Abuja, Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, announced the training and deployment of over 700 cadet officers in basic firefighting across various commands. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen operational capacity, including counter-terrorism training in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Armed Forces.

During a National Stakeholders’ Summit on fire safety, Adeyemi noted that for the first time, Public Relations Officers from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory were trained in a structured program. Over the past year, the FFS has also focused on staff welfare, improving medical access, and providing interest-free loans.

Additionally, 40 firefighting appliances have been rehabilitated, and the National Fire Academy is being upgraded to meet international standards. Adeyemi called for stronger partnerships to enhance fire safety and urged for the expansion of fire stations across Nigeria.
