FCT Police Recover Vandalized Assets and Fake Plates

During a press briefing at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi reported the recovery of vandalized public assets and fake vehicle number plates. The recoveries were achieved through intelligence-led operations and proactive anti-crime patrols in areas including Maitama, Garki, Durumi, Jabi, Apo Legislative, Lugbe, and Nyanya.

The items recovered included drainage covers, solar street lights, armoured high-voltage electricity cables, and internet communication cables, which had caused significant economic losses and public safety risks. Five suspects—Godwin Aja, Mustapha Nasiru, Ibrahim Garba, Abdulrasheed Sale, and Dabarani Mujitafa—were arrested in connection with these thefts.

Sanusi warned scrap dealers and buyers of stolen public infrastructure that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the supply network for stolen assets. The recovered infrastructure will be handed over to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for reinstallation.

Additionally, a network involved in the unauthorized use and distribution of official vehicle number plates was uncovered, with suspects in custody awaiting arraignment.
