Police Uncover Fake Diplomatic Number Plate Network

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, led by Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi, has uncovered a network involved in the illegal production and use of fake diplomatic and official government number plates. This announcement was made during a press briefing on Friday at the command headquarters in Abuja.

The police also recovered vandalized public infrastructure, including drainage covers, solar-powered street lights, armoured electricity cables, and internet communication cables, which were stolen from various locations within the territory. Five suspects—Godwin Aja, Mustapha Nasiru, Ibrahim Garba, Abdulrasheed Sale, and Dabarani Mujitafa—were arrested in connection with these crimes.

Sanusi described the vandalism as economic sabotage, highlighting its severe consequences for residents, including increased road traffic accidents and street crime. He warned scrap dealers and buyers of stolen infrastructure that investigations would continue to dismantle the criminal network.

The recovered items will be handed over to the Federal Capital Territory Administration for reinstallation.
