ADC Condemns FCT Curfew Before Elections as Voter Suppression

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed strong objections to the decision made by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to impose a curfew starting at 8 PM on the Friday before the elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesperson, stated that this move is an attempt to suppress voter turnout and restrict movement, which they believe could discourage citizens from participating in the electoral process.

The ADC emphasized that such restrictions are unnecessary for security reasons and could create an atmosphere that is not safe or conducive for eligible voters in Abuja. They argue that residents should be able to travel safely to polling units and return home without fear of harassment or obstruction.

The party plans to formally register its objections to this premature restriction on movement ahead of the elections.
