PDP's Mohammed Kasim Wins Gwagwalada Chairmanship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mohammed Kasim of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election held on February 21, 2026. Kasim received a total of 22,165 votes, which led to his declaration as the winner by Prof.

Philip Akpeni, who returned the election results. In the election, Yahaya Usman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came in second place with 17,788 votes, while Biko Umar of the Progress Grand Alliance (PGA) secured third place with 1,687 votes.

The election was conducted across 10 wards in Gwagwalada, including areas such as Paiko, Dobi, Gwako, Staff Quarters, Zuba, Ikwa, Kutunku, Gwagwalada Central, and Tunga Maje.
