APC Challenges Gwagwalada Election Results in Court

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has initiated legal action against the People's Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the results of the Gwagwalada chairmanship election conducted on February 21, 2026. The APC candidate, Yahaya Usman, received 17,788 votes, while the PDP candidate, Moham Kasim, was declared the winner with 22,165 votes.

The APC's petition, filed with the election tribunal, alleges that the election did not adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, citing instances of corrupt practices and irregularities during the electoral process. The APC claims that results from at least six polling units were altered, affecting the credibility of the figures recorded.

They argue that discrepancies in the number of votes recorded compared to accredited voters warrant the cancellation of the election outcome. The APC calculates that the valid votes for the PDP candidate were overstated, leaving a difference of 2,430 votes that they contend should invalidate the results.
