FCT Administration Launches Health Outreaches for 100 Communities

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has identified 100 communities across its six area councils for monthly maternal and child health outreaches, aiming to improve access to reproductive, maternal, and child health services. Maimuna Mikail Isah, Coordinator of Reproductive Health at the FCT Primary Health Care Board, announced this initiative during a Rotary Action Group for Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health (RMCH) outreach in Kayar Darkasa, Kuje Area Council.

The outreach is part of the Board’s Annual Operational Plan for 2027, set to run for one year with quarterly events in each area council. Isah emphasized the importance of sustaining interventions as Rotary RMCH prepares to exit the project.

The outreach has already led to the detection of undiagnosed health issues, with referrals made for further management. Daniela Kaempfe, Project Manager of Rotary RMCH Germany, highlighted the significance of delivering healthcare directly to communities and urged government ownership of these initiatives to reduce maternal and child mortality.
