FCTA Approves N1bn for Security, N7.3bn for Waste Management

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved a N1 billion contract for the procurement of emergency security gadgets to support security agencies in the Federal Capital Territory. Musa Onsachi, the FCTA Director of Procurement, disclosed this decision following a meeting led by the FCTA Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Monday in Abuja.

The initiative aims to bridge the current equipment gap that undermines the efficiency of security agencies, which was identified by Wike upon assuming office in August 2023. The minister noted that by July 2024, the FCTA plans to present 50 operational vehicles equipped with these gadgets to strengthen the fight against insecurity.

Additionally, the FCTA ratified a N7.3 billion contract for waste management services in four districts of Abuja, as disclosed by Felix Obuah, the Chief Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council. The contract includes provisions for diesel supply and basic waste treatment over a two-year period.
