Wike Confirms 1,659 FCTA Workers After Examination

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, approved the confirmation of 1,659 staff members within the Federal Capital Territory Administration. This decision follows an examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026, where 2,281 candidates participated.

The examination was necessary as 2,512 candidates were invited, but only 2,281 attended, raising concerns about ghost workers, as 224 officials were absent. The examination was for candidates who had applied for employment between 2016 and 2019.

Wike, who assumed office in August 2023, emphasized the importance of addressing staff welfare and career progression. In January, he had already approved the immediate promotion of 2,000 workers in Abuja, with another promotion exercise planned for 2025-2026.
