FCTA Workers' Union Heads to Appeal Court Over Strike Dispute

The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) of FCTA workers, led by Riftkatu Iortyer and Abdullahi Saleh, is taking their case to the Court of Appeal in Abuja to appeal an interlocutory ruling by Justice Emmanuel Subilim of the National Industrial Court. The ruling restrained the workers from embarking on an industrial action.

The JUAC, represented by legal team led by Femi Falana and his wife Funmi Falana, filed an application seeking to challenge the ruling based on constitutional rights. The strike, which commenced last week, was in response to the FCTA's alleged failure to address longstanding labor welfare demands.

Despite the court's ruling to suspend the strike pending the appeal, the FCTA warned workers, through Minister Nyesom Wike, of sanctions if they fail to resume work.
