Female Voters Surpass Men in Gombe State as INEC Registers 36,638 New Voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Gombe State, led by Dr. Saad Idris, disclosed that during the continuous voter registration exercise, a total of 36,638 new voters were registered, with women constituting 58% of the registrations.

This marks the first time in Gombe State's history that female registrants have outnumbered male registrants. Despite concerns over low registration figures compared to other northern states like Kano, Sokoto, Borno, Zamfara, and Yobe, INEC has approved the devolution of voter registration to 50 registration areas.

The exercise aims to ensure wider participation and improve voter registration figures across the state.
