Nigeria to Host 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships

The Nigeria Fencing Federation (NFF), led by President Adeyinka Samuel, has announced that Lagos will host the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, making Nigeria the first African country to host the senior Commonwealth fencing championship. The event is scheduled for August 2026 and will welcome athletes, coaches, and officials from across the Commonwealth.

During a press conference, Samuel emphasized the significance of this championship as a platform for international cooperation, tourism, and economic growth. NFF Vice President Rachael Samuel and athlete Nabel Oseni expressed excitement about representing Nigeria on a global stage.

Teniayo Erinl, another participant, noted the championship's potential to provide valuable experience. The NFF aims to deliver a world-class event that reflects Nigeria's progress in the sport and showcases its culture and hospitality.
