Algeria Women Defeat Ivory Coast 2-1 in WAFCON Quarter-Final

In the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final held in Casablanca on Saturday, the Algeria Women's National Football Team overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat the Ivory Coast Women's National Football Team 2-1 and advance to the semi-finals. Ivory Coast initially took the lead in the 29th minute through Inès Konan.

However, the situation changed when N. Ouédraogo received a red card in the 42nd minute, reducing Ivory Coast to ten players.

After halftime, Algeria capitalized on their numerical advantage, with substitute I. Khiri equalizing in the 59th minute.

Ivory Coast had a chance to regain the lead but R. Elloh missed a penalty in the 62nd minute.

Algeria then took the lead in the 64th minute with a goal from A. Braham, assisted by M.

Dafeur. Despite Ivory Coast's efforts to equalize, Algeria held on to win.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Algeria, while Ivory Coast's campaign ends after their first WAFCON appearance since 2014.
