97% of Nigeria's Ambassadors Accepted by Host Countries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that ninety-seven percent (97%) of the ambassadors appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, have successfully received the Agreement (Agrèment) from their respective host countries. A total of 69 ambassadors-designate were assigned following Senate confirmation, with 65 accepted by the receiving countries.

The ambassadors-designate to the Republic of Togo declined the appointment, and the ambassador-designate to Algeria passed away in April 2026, with a replacement process ongoing. Currently, two countries are pending confirmation of acceptance, but assurances have been received that consent will be granted in due course.

Most ambassadors have arrived in their host countries and presented their Letters of Credence. The Ministry remains committed to enhancing Nigeria’s diplomatic representation abroad to further national interests and foreign policy objectives.
