FG Approves Major Upgrades to Nigeria's Sports Infrastructure

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a series of landmark sports infrastructure projects aimed at restoring Nigerian sports to world-class standards. This initiative, driven by the National Sports Commission (NSC), includes a comprehensive revamp of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, which has suffered from poor conditions limiting its usage by the national team.

The upgrades will enhance facilities such as the stadium's pitch, tartan track, media center, and VIP seating, alongside the installation of advanced security and cooling systems. The NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, described this as a bold step toward restoring Nigeria's sporting glory.

Additionally, Mr. President has approved the establishment of a national sports infrastructure development bond to fund these projects. The initiative also includes the construction of new training pitches, an anti-doping lab, and a national sports center.

Enugu State is set to host the next National Sports Festival, receiving support for critical infrastructure upgrades, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
