NSC Approves 20 Sports for 2026 NSF in Enugu State

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially merged and approved 20 sports for the upcoming 2026 National Sports Festival (NSF) to be held in Enugu State. This decision was confirmed during a meeting in Abuja, led by the Director General of NSC, Bukola Olopade, alongside the state director of sports.

The NSC's decision to reduce the number of sports to 20 was made during the last National Council on Sports meeting held in Calabar, considering the prevailing economic realities in the country. The Director General reiterated that the commission holds exclusive rights to organize and coordinate the National Sports Festival.

The selection of the 20 sports is also intended to model the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The meeting included representatives from six geopolitical zones and the para-sport department, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the sports festival.
