Tinubu Launches N137bn Road Projects in Borno State

On Saturday, President Bola Tinubu officially launched N137 billion road rehabilitation projects in Borno State, specifically targeting the Bama-Banki and Dikwa-Gamboru-Ngala roads. The initiative, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the ceremony, aims to boost trade, agricultural activities, and security in the region.

The Bama-Banki road, a two-lane single carriageway measuring 49.15 kilometers, connects Bama town to the Cameroon border. These roads are essential for restoring trans-Saharan trade with Nigeria's neighbors, Chad and Cameroon, which have been disrupted by insecurity and poor road conditions.

The Dangote Group, led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is executing the project, which is part of a broader effort involving 12 major road projects across Nigeria, valued at N3 trillion. The projects were first awarded in 2021, with costs later reviewed to N70 billion for the Bama-Banki road and N67 billion for the Dikwa-Gamboru-Ngala road.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum emphasized the importance of these projects for the state's economic recovery.
