Shettima Affirms FG's Commitment to Nigerians' Rights

On Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima stated the Federal Government's commitment to protecting the rights of all Nigerians during a high-level dialogue in Abuja focused on implementing international humanitarian law. Shettima highlighted the government's determination to establish a legal framework to address the country's current security challenges.

He advocated for a comprehensive approach to implementing national laws and international treaties, urging dialogue and critical evaluation of ongoing conflicts that fuel insurgency. Shettima praised Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, describing him as one of Nigeria's finest legal minds, whose efforts significantly advance justice in the country.

Fagbemi noted recent legislative reforms, including the enactment of the Anti-Torture Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, as part of the broader reform agenda under President Bola Tinubu's administration, which aims to improve Nigeria's legal system to meet domestic and international standards.
