Nigeria Congratulates Colombia's President-elect Abelardo

The Federal Government of Nigeria congratulated Abelardo de la Espriella on his electoral victory as Colombia’s President-elect, ahead of his inauguration scheduled for August 7. A statement issued on Friday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed by spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, described the election outcome as a democratic expression of the Colombian people's will.

Nigeria expressed its readiness to work closely with the incoming administration and looked forward to strengthening bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, security, and South-South cooperation. The statement reaffirmed Nigeria and Colombia's commitment to democracy, peace, and sustainable development.

The Federal Government expressed confidence that under President-elect de la Espriella's leadership, the longstanding relationship between the two nations would continue to grow for mutual benefit. Nigeria wished the President-elect success as he prepares to assume office, expressing optimism that his administration would advance peace, progress, and prosperity for the Colombian people.
