FG Donates N25m Anti-Snake Venom to Benue State

The Federal Government has donated 100 vials of Panaf Premium anti-snake venom valued at N25 million to the Benue State Government, addressing the increasing number of snakebite cases in the state. This donation was presented on Friday at the Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services headquarters in Makurdi.

The intervention is part of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare’s efforts to reduce illness and fatalities associated with snakebites. Dr.

Paul Ogwuche, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, highlighted the proactive leadership of Governor Hyacinth Alia and the ministry's commitment to improving healthcare. He expressed gratitude to Professor Aliu Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, for the timely support.

The donation is expected to ease the financial burden on families affected by snakebites and ensure prompt treatment. Dr.

Cephas Hough, the Permanent Secretary, acknowledged the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments in tackling public health challenges.
